Jim Goddard took on one of the toughest local routes in the thick of winter weather to complete the Wadsworth Trog on 7 February and he holds on to fourth place in the strong Baildon group at the top of the individual league. At Windy Hill the next weekend Emma Stoney's performance edged her ahead of fellow front-runner Ian Hartman and into the lead with just three of the season's fixtures remaining.
Thanks to Ian Hartman and Rob Myers racing in the very strong Windy
Hill vets field Baildon now occupy the first six individual places, with Mick Coe in seventh for Queensbury. Steph Wilson is Saltaire Striders' leading runner, Lyndon Ross is first for Eccleshill, Stephen Batley leads for Skyrac and Stephen Wolstenholme for Bradford Airedale.
Baildon performances all through the winter have given the club a
terrific lead in the club league while Lee Hipwell's run at Windy Hill
moves Queensbury just ahead of Saltaire into second place.
There are three more races in the Winter Challenge: the Stan Bradshaw
Pendle Round from Barley on 7 March (entries close 1 March), then a
choice on 22 March: the moors and crags of Heptonstall or the shorter
race at Rivock Edge. Joker points for Heptonstall.
Good luck with the weather, Anna
